The Brazilian Wandering Spider is the most known deadly spider, but it has anti venom. On the other hand rhe Six Eyed Sand Spider has extremely powerful necrotic venom and almost 0 research into the effects and no anti venom. Scary!
Many myths and legends say that the brown recluse, the black widow or even the cellar spider have “the most potent venom in the world” but that’s far from the truth.
The Brazilian Wandering Spider, specifically the species Phoneutria fera and Phoneutria nigriventer are particularly dangerous and potentially life threatening. Coming from the forests of South America, this spider delivers a devastating bite that can cause the following symptoms:
- increased pulse
- increased blood pressure
- increased respiratory rate
- extraordinary pain
- penile erection that lasts for several hours
- and, in several documented cases, death.
despite that— there is an anti venom for the Brazilian wandering spider. Which the same cannot be said for the six eyed sand spider (Hexophthalma). Not much is known about the sand spiders venom, as they thankfully do not bite often, but they are related to the brown recluse and have venom significantly more potent. They are found in the deserts of Southern Africa, and their venom has been shown to have significantly more necrotic effects than the common brown recluse. Due to the fact not much is known about the actual effects of the venom and tests have only been done in vitro, it is generally assumed that if you get bitten you will get devastating effects with little chance at proper medical treatment.
All in all, you do not want to come face to face with the Brazilian wandering spider, or the six eyed sand spider. Both deliver devastating and potentially deadly bites.
